Practical help at home
This is the practical end of home care. This service focuses on everyday tasks around the home, such as shopping, laundry and meal preparation. Personal care can be arranged separately if you need it. For a lot of people it is the only support they ever need.
What a visit looks like
Most people book one or two visits a week, an hour or two at a time. What gets done is up to you and can change week to week: the shopping one week, the bedding and the ironing the next, an appointment the week after. Your carer asks what needs doing rather than working through a fixed list.
Getting out of the house
A good part of this work happens outside it. We take people to GP appointments, hospital clinics, the optician and the dentist, and we wait and bring you home again. If you would rather choose your own shopping than hand someone a list, we take you and push the trolley.
The paperwork nobody wants
Post that has piled up, a form that needs filling in, a bill that does not look right, a phone contract that needs cancelling. A carer can sit down and work through it with you. We do not handle your money or your bank cards — that is a firm rule, for your protection and ours — but we can help you deal with the people who need dealing with.
A second pair of eyes
Someone in the house every week notices what family visiting monthly will not: food going out of date, weight coming off, a new bruise, the heating turned off to save money. With your permission we pass those on to whoever you want us to tell.
If you need more later
People often start here and add personal care a year or two on. When that happens you keep the same team and the same visit times — we add to the care plan rather than starting again with new faces.
Why families choose this support
- Keep on top of the house without having to ask family every time
- One regular person who knows where everything goes
- Add personal care later without changing team or visit times
- Weekly, twice weekly or occasional — you set the pattern
